After watching this new short film by Pablo Aguiar, surfer Yago Dora's technicality while in the water, makes a lot more sense. "Brutal" shows long-time friends and Brazilian icons Pedro Barros and Yago Dora discussing the intertwined development of surfing and skateboarding.
Pedro, who has been friends with Yago since the two were kids, absolutely shreds, and it turns out, the two have been influencing each other since they were super young. Yago has gotten to a level of surfing where he can easily draw inspiration from skateboarding, trying new tricks that are considered unconventional in the water.
"You have two sports that are different, but influence each other and walk side by side," says Dora. "This lifestyle that surfing has brought me is reflected in my skateboarding somehow."
"Brutal" is an intriguing watch, alongside plenty of footage of Pedro tearing around his backyard bowl, some pretty sick music, and a lot of really well-said commentary on the convergence of surfing and skating.
