This Shit Bumps: N.E.R.D. and Rihanna's Video For New Single "Lemon"

November 1, 2017

2010. That was the last time we heard anything new from acclaimed group N.E.R.D. Now, Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, and Shay Hayley have released a new single titled "Lemon" featuring Rihanna.

Earlier this year Pharrell mentioned that he felt "really, really good" about the music the group had been making, so we should have known that their first release in seven years was going to be banger, but damn, we didn't know it would be this good. "Lemon" is fun as hell and has the trademark Pharrell sunshine, complete with classic Neptunes production, and an absolutely powerhouse verse from Rihanna. The track finds Pharrell and Rihanna trading rapped verses back and forth but, in between the two verses, the bouncy instrumental breaks with a familiar vocal sample.

"Lemon" even go the stamp of approval from the one and only Missy as well.

@Pharrell played me that #Lemon song with @rihanna a while back & dat joint was 🔥glad they finally put it out! Ayye🙌🏾 N.E.R.D

In 1997, Spiritualized's album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space was named album of the year by NME magazine over much more glorified opus albums like Radiohead's OK Computer and The Verve's Urban Hymns. The newest release from Jason Pierce & Co., And Nothing Hurt, is a similarly ambitious blend of shoegazer rock and indie R&B that is sure to keep his legion of fans happy, but let's hope that with lyrics like "Gonna burn brightly for a while/and then you're gone," it's not the last.
On their 6th album, veteran indie rock brooders Interpol team up with producer Dave Fridmann for their latest offering, Marauder. As always their songs are anchored by the moody tenor of dapper lead singer and sometime surfer Paul Banks. The only thing missing from previous releases are the strong bass lines of long time collaborator Carlos Dengler. Standout tracks are "The Rover" and "Stay in Touch."
