Meatbodies-Valley Girl

Meatbodies-640x640What started off as a solo music adventure for Chad Ubovich, Meatbodies has always hosted a rockin' and interchanging mix of lo-fi pushers. For the project’s self-titled debut album, he was joined by Ty Segall, together PANGEA’s Erik Jimenez, and producer Eric Bauer (Mikal Cronin, Thee Oh Sees). Now, with a new 7-inch single, Ubovich found himself a legit band by recruiting Kevin Boog and Patrick Nolan.

The trio has officially released the A-side off the upcoming 7" due out later this Spring entitled, “Valley Girl”, which is clear sign that though the lineup has changed, the sound remains Meatbodies-authentic. It’s a groove-heavy song with infectious surf guitar riffs, and rhythmic bass churned out through a scuzzy mix. It's clear that Ubovich has a point to make with his vocals besides adding extra weird psychedelic leaning to the track. The lyrics detail the story of a valley girl, but they take a back seat to the instrumentation as the grooves have plenty of room to breathe and repeat.

The “Valley Girl” b/w “Hibernation” 7″ is out 3/25 on Famous Class/LAMC. Pre-order is available on limited ficus green vinyl here.
