CFM-Purple Spine

smooth You probably know Charles Moothart from his numerous projects with fellow garage rock cohorts Ty Segall and Mikal Cronin. He's been a part of Ty Segall Band, Fuzz, GØGGS, and Moonhearts, and recently appeared on both Segall and Cronin's newest albums. Now, he’s taking his name solo as he’s launched the new project CFM.

In mid-January, Moothart announced CFM’s debut LP entitled Still Life of Citrus and Slime, due out April 8th via In the Red, with the release of lead single "Lunar Heroine". It was slice of psychedelic and crunchy garage rock that sporadically spiraled into the abyss of Moothart's ominous and gloriously messy distortion. Now CFM has released "Purple Spine," another single off the upcoming LP that boasts a heavier, tripped-out 70s groove that lures you in.

The album was written during two months of deliberate isolation brought on by “a brief and impermanent” separation from his longtime girlfriend and bandmate.
