For Sk8rats – a Los Angeles-based independent skate brand – the name says it all. The company, which started as the brainchild of Shane Aukland back in 2004, is a reminder to everyone that skating for the sake of having just a good fucking time is still alive and well. Auckland and his team of Sk8rats – Jake Shumaker, Cory Kennedy, Jesse Alba, Sebo Walker, Travis Harrison, Brian Baca and others – can usually be found barging around LA, from the grimy but beautiful back streets to the hills.
Not only has the brand maintained a steady stream of raw skate content, all shot with a certain grittiness that you can only get with a VX, they have a range of Sk8rats garb including boards, beanies, shirts, sweatpants, hats, and even some stuff for your dog. Their "Rat Queen" tie dye t-shirt, adorned with a photo of the always freaky Yolandi Vi$$er from Die Antwoord, is completely emblematic of the Sk8rats vibe.
