Simon Hetrick in "Rush"

May 2, 2017

This past season Simon Hetrick went to Hawaii to visit his good friends Matt Bender, Schuyler Allen, and John G, and had a non stop surf fest. The culmination of that trip is this 2-minute thriller, "Rush." It's a short one, but damn it packs a punch.

Oh and did we mention the dude is only 16. He's Vissla's East Coast wonder boy. This video is a prequel to "Speed," which will be dropping sometime in the near future.

In 1997, Spiritualized's album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space was named album of the year by NME magazine over much more glorified opus albums like Radiohead's OK Computer and The Verve's Urban Hymns. The newest release from Jason Pierce & Co., And Nothing Hurt, is a similarly ambitious blend of shoegazer rock and indie R&B that is sure to keep his legion of fans happy, but let's hope that with lyrics like "Gonna burn brightly for a while/and then you're gone," it's not the last.
On their 6th album, veteran indie rock brooders Interpol team up with producer Dave Fridmann for their latest offering, Marauder. As always their songs are anchored by the moody tenor of dapper lead singer and sometime surfer Paul Banks. The only thing missing from previous releases are the strong bass lines of long time collaborator Carlos Dengler. Standout tracks are "The Rover" and "Stay in Touch."
