2x Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Steve Aoki teamed up with multi-platinum selling hip-hop recording artist Lil Yachty and certified platinum pop group AJR to release their hit anthem titled 'Pretender.' The video starts off with Steve posting a nature photo of trees with the flaring sun in the background and the caption "RISE AND GRIND! Early Bird Gets The Worm!" onto his social media then instantly falling back to sleep. The video goes on showcasing other people and their fake post as AJR shouts the chorus "I'm a good pretender, I'm not really cool. I'm a good pretender, Cause I'm just like you" followed by Lil Yachty's lyrics "I look happy in every picture, Just so you think i am."
We all know social media can be very deceiving in most cases from posting a picture with someone you don't like, to being somewhere you don't want to be. But will this ever stop? Social media is used for many different reasons but one of the biggest reasons we see today is self promotion. Most people want to show off themselves, what they are eating, wearing, even unnecessary things like what they want to buy or where they'll be going for the weekend. Everyone is guilty of this for at least 1 of their post on social, but thats ok. Social media is not meant to be taken seriously, I mean... its the internet for crying out loud.
