LCD Soundsystem's Glorious Return

May 8, 2017

LCD Soundsystem's fateful return, after their supposed farewell concert seven years ago, has been some of the most glorious news we've received. And the two tracks that they've released from the album, "Call the Police" and "American Dream" are exactly what we were hoping for: lo-fi power punk with LCD-mastermind James Murphy confronting his anxiety of aging, which has continually fueled some of his best work.

While "American Dream" is a classically LCD song about the crush of aging and existential meltdown, "Call the Police" is an explicitly political song that addresses the shit show that is America in 2017.

Listen to the band perform both songs on SNL below.
