It was a sad for hip-hop on April 19, 2010 when rapper Guru was reported dead. The Hip-hop community is still in mourning after this recent tragedy.

For those who aren't familiar: Guru was one half of the legendary Hip-Hop duo known as Gangstarr and always delivered the most lyrically inclined tracks. Guru always came correct with the grimiest schemes and cadences and should be remembered with respect for keeping the "real" side of the hip-hop spectrum on lock.

A long time artist "Solar" said that Guru has been in and out of hospitals since last July battling cancer. The rapper was keeping this a secret until he overcame his sickness. Unfortunately the battle didn't end in his favor. Guru was apparently expecting this outcome as he had written a letter for all of his fans and had asked for it to be made public at the time of his death

The letter read:

""As the sole founder of Gang Starr, I am very proud of what Gang Starr has meant to the music world and fans," "I equally am
proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am
most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on Jazzmatazz 4 for
reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music quality has
reached an all time low."

The hip-hop heads will keep guru's legacy alive and well. He changed the game and made it possible for the youngsters to rock today.

R.I.P. Guru. I leave you with this
