From N.W.A. Gangster Rap, to Disney movies like "Are we there yet?"
Rapper, Ice Cube is still alive and keeping the heart beating on the West Coast.
Over the past 4 years or so, Ice Cube has released 3 studio albums, and a few music videos that seemed to have slid under the radar and out of the public eye, But if you haven't caught any of the new stuff, then you probably haven't seen his blend of the New and the Old School.
He's still got the voice, there's no denying that. The look...its a little different. The new videos.... I'm not a fan.
It seems like he's an old dog trying to fit in with what the young bucks will like. Maybe he's trying to hard?
Do Ya Thing
You can be judge of that one.
The visuals aren't to bad, just a little off for him. I was fine with that track because the lyrics were still good ol' Ice Cube.
But then today I witnessed another glorious letdown
I Am The West
Is it just me, or did the director hire the same costume guy from his Disney movies to do this video? I mean yeah, I get the whole "west vibe" but gangster rap in a poncho, sombrero, bedazzled Chucks and a black bandanna isn't that "hard" to me. It seems like Ice Cube does whatever the guy in the suit tells him to nowadays in order to make that profit.
Whatever works I guess.
I'm not mad. Ice Cube will forever be a legend, but he needs to finish the game strong and keep it 100 like he came.
