The group Dru Hill is not a group that is afraid of putting in their time. After eight years, Dru Hill is once again getting back on the scene with their latest album InDrupendence Day. Started in 1995 and named after a neighborhood park in Baltimore they found quick success on Island records. Their most notable member Sisqo broke out with the very popular "Thong Song." The group was still able to stick together and earn multi-platinum success with charting albums and singles.
Their current sound is deep, and well developed. The track "Away" represents their maturity gained over the years they have spent expriencing life both musically and personally. They are trying to connect with their listeners in new and exciting ways. It is obvious that they have been influenced by different genres, and seek to influence the genre with their own unique blend of flavors.
Dru Hill is an example of a musical group that is making work. They are a hard working group that has never given up on producing great music for their fans. They represent a maturity in the genre that shows how a group of very talented individuals can take a career to the top of success and back again. Normally this type of turn over is reserved for the aging rocker, but Dru Hill is proving that they can be relevant, fresh, and youthful.
