Eyehategod

Eyehategod is an awesome sludge band from New Orleans that's been around since 1988, so if you haven't heard of them now if your chance. With 9 studio albums, tons of splits and a lot of E.P.'s, there is a lot for you to choose from. Eyehategod has a doomy sound that combines detuned guitars, bluesy riffs and crazy feedback to create an intense sound not meant for everyone.

Eyehategod's frontman Mike Williams and guitarist Jimmy Bower are two amazing musicians, and the band as a whole knows what they're doing. One of their best albums, Take as Needed for Pain, was released in 1993, and is the band's favorite album. I would recommend starting off with this album, and paying attention to the songs Blank, Crimes Against Skin, and Story of the Eye. If you like what you hear, you basically can move around to any album you want: Eyehategod is not one of those bands that got worse with age. Every release is just as memerable as the last, and Jimmy Bower has recently let the news out that Eyehategod is currently making a new album, so be on the lookout.
